About Windrose Horses
Nestled in a peaceful oasis on the border of South East London and Kent, Windrose Horses offers Equine Facilitated Psychotraumatology for adults impacted by trauma, Equine Facilitated Human Development sessions for those seeking personal growth and Nature Based Wellbeing to facilitate grounding through the deep healing power of connection with nature.
What is Equine Facilitated Psychological Trauma Therapy?
Equine Facilitated Psychotraumatology is a form of integrative, trauma-focussed psychotherapy, combining a variety of mind-body and evidence-based therapeutic techniques. Through relational cognitive and somatic work in nature alongside horses it supports emotional regulation and resilience, creating a secure foundation for healing from trauma, PTSD, Complex-PTSD or overwhelm.
What is Equine Facilitated Human Development?
EFHD nurtures personal growth through both reflective and active work with horses and the support of a human facilitator, promoting mind-body awareness, emotional attunement and agility.
A note on terminology: Equine Assisted or Equine Facilitated?
The emotional and psychological benefits of working with horses has been long-documented, and as the industry has developed over recent decades the terminology used to describe services has expanded. This can result in confusion for those seeking support as different terms may be used interchangeably (sometimes erroneously). You may encounter practitioners who offer Equine Assisted services, or describe their service as Equine Facilitated or Equine Assisted Learning.
Though it is not always the case, services described as Learning typically have specialism in supporting people with disabilities or learning differences. Others use this term to encompass all adult learning, including growth and development.
At Windrose Horses, I use the terms Equine Facilitated Psychotraumatology and Equine Facilitated Human Development, firstly because they are specific to my particular qualifications, and secondly, because I do not perceive my horses as “assistants” in my practice but as my equal – and often superior – co-facilitators in our work. I will work with you to adapt sessions to ensure equitable provisioning if you identify as neurodivergent or have specific accessibility or learning needs.
Should you need any support in understanding if my services are right for you, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Why Horses? The Windrose Philosophy
Horse wisdom is borne of 50 million years of evolution. Innately attuned to Earth and emotion, their very survival is reliant on deep connection to their environment and all other beings within it. Their responses are revealing: authentic, honest and based not on past narrative, but how we are consciously and unconsciously expressing ourselves in the present moment.
